At Kupferschiefer Lausitz GmbH (KSL), we have set ourselves the goal of starting to mine and process the copper ore available in Lusatia near Spremberg within the 2030s. The deposits of the so-called "Spremberg-Graustein-Schleife" amount to around 1.5 million tons of pure metal and are to be mined as efficiently and resource-conserving as possible over a period of 20 years.

Moderner Bergbau
des 21. Jahrhunderts
We are committed to developing the mining industry of the 21st century using state-of-the-art technologies, processes and standards. To this end, we are working closely with research institutions such as the Technical University Bergakademie Freiberg, the Helmholtz Institute for Resource Technology Freiberg and the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) in Potsdam. Together, we want to build on the tradition of mining in the region and benefit from the knowledge already available.
____ Building new value chains, driving change
With the copper extracted in Lusatia, we will make an important contribution to making Germany more independent as an industrial location and supplying it sustainably with raw materials of the future. By tapping into the region's existing innovation potential and playing our part in establishing new value chains, we are helping to drive forward the transformation of Lusatia into a long-term attractive economic, technology and energy region.
